Highlands Trails is based in Bundanoon, NSW, and has been in existence since 2005, becoming an incorporated organisation in 2010. It is made up of volunteers, who are primarily local residents, who all have a passion for riding mountain bikes. We are affiliated with the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA), the world authority on sustainable MTB trailbuilding and advocacy.
Our Mission is to “Help people of all ages live a more rewarding life through facilitating access and development of world class mountain bike trail networks in the Southern Highlands.”
Our core values consist of;
- Believing in ourselves and our ability to change the world around us
- Challenging ourselves to do better each time
- Having fun
- Seeing world class experiences on bikes for people of all ages and skill levels
- Adopting transparency in everything we do
We think big and at the moment act locally. We’re part of the Sunset Working Group for Bicycling Strategy for the Wingecarribee Shire Council, as well as other groups throughout the Southern Highlands. In terms of trail networks we have been heavily involved in developing the Wingello trail network in the Wingello State Forest, as well as the Jumping Rock trail network on private land.
If we are not building trails, we can be found organizing events like Trail Ales to raise funds for the group, working with the Wingecarribee Shire Council on their Cycling Strategy for the shire, fixing bikes, and riding them at every chance we have.
Take a look at the People page to see who the usual suspects are, check out the maps of the local trail networks, sign up to our eNewsletter or leave us a comment on our Facebook page.
In the meantime, happy riding, and we hope to see you soon on the trails.
