Highlands Trails expands

Highlands Trails is expanding!

From our beginnings more than a decade ago as a mountain bike trail advocacy and trail building organisation for the Southern Highlands, we’re delighted to announce that we are embarking on a new era.  We’ve always had a working relationship with the Southern Highlands Cycling Club, and following internal club decisions, Highlands Trails has agreed to combine with the mountain bike section of the SHCC to provide a more comprehensive range of mountain biking activities.  This will include the ongoing program of club mountain bike races which the SHCC have been running, as well as other future events.  And of course, we’ll be continuing our work with trails – Wingello, Welby, and an exciting new opportunity for something larger as well.

Highlands Trails is affiliated with AusCycling in the same way as the SHCC – and so the same range of adult and junior memberships are available – from full multidisciplinary race licences to non-riding memberships for volunteers who don’t ride.  Whilst membership fees for Highlands Trails are similar to those for SHCC, we note that AusCycling increased membership fees from 1 June 2022.

For those of you who are currently SHCC members, you have three options:

  1. You can transfer your SHCC membership to Highlands Trails for free by filling in this online AusCycling form.

  2. You can retain your SHCC membership and add Highlands Trails as an extra club ($10 annual fee) by filling in this online AusCycling form.

  3. You can stay as a SHCC member, and consider changing to Highlands Trails when you next renew, or in the future.

Provided you have an appropriate AusCycling race membership / licence, all three options will allow you to participate in the ongoing program of club mountain bike races run by Highlands Trails … but there will be some benefits in being a Highlands Trails member!

PS  There’s a lot of work involved in making this transition happen smoothly, and so it may be a few weeks before we get our website and social media presence fully updated.  If you’re a web or social media aficionado, and would like to help us out, please email us.
