Trail recovery progress update #2
With the second month of recovery works on the Wingello mountain bike trails coming to an end, we’re reflecting on a slower pace of work, not helped by Covid-19 restrictions, and inclement weather. When strong winds are forecast (or blow up on the day), we put safety first, and keep out of the forest to avoid the risk of falling timber.
We have made some progress on both Everglades and Flinging Scotsman, and we’ve also marked out proposed trail diversions on both Flinging Scotsman and Cover Shot to avoid fallen timber or areas of developing erosion.
We couldn’t have done this without the fantastic volunteer support to date, and we look forward to welcoming more of you to assist with the ongoing trail recovery works over the coming months.
We’ve scheduled working bees for each Sunday in August, but regret to advise that participation in these is currently limited to residents of the Wingecarribee or Goulburn-Mulwaring Shires. We’ll be continuing with work on Everglades, Flinging Scotsman and Cover Shot, and when we get approval from Forestry Corporation, will commence work on the trail diversions. You can choose your preferred date and register here - look forward to seeing you out on the trails with us.
